All Night Radio

Projecto conjunto de dois amigos de Los Angeles. Eram ainda muito novos quando se conheceram através de um programa nocturno de Rádio.
Ambos músicos, uniram-se primeiramente em meados dos anos 90, no agrupamento Beachwood Sparks, onde o som Folk alternativo tinha fortes componentes psicadélicas.
Em 2002 formam o conceito All Night Radio, durando dois anos, até à edição de um único álbum chamado «Spirit Stereo Frequency».
Com uma estética algo diferenciada dos outros trabalhos realizados por Dave Scher e Jimi Hey, a linguagem experimentalista do projecto All Night Radio encontra paralelos no universo musical dos Flaming Lips ou dos Mercury Rev.
Eis a homenagem à magia da Rádio deste projecto norte-americano, no álbum «Spirit Stereo Frequency» em 2004, com o tema justamente intitulado “All Night Radio”.

23 Envelope

Em Dezembro de 1989 esteve patente uma exposição com capas de discos dos primeiros dez anos da editora 4AD, numa galeria de Arte em Londres.
A Arte Gráfica das edições discográficas estava a cargo da dupla Vaughan Oliver e Nigel Grierson, da agência 23 Envelope. Durante anos a fio, e na principal fase da editora de Ivo Watts-Russell, distinguia-se uma edição da 4AD só pela capa. Sempre com um design apelativo e coincidente com o então chamado Som 4AD.
O período de ouro da casa sediada em Alma Road, na capital inglesa, foi revolucionário não só na música independente e alternativa, como também pioneiro num certo estilo de design gráfico altamente identificado.
Viviam-se os últimos anos da supremacia do formato em vinil, que favorecia a criatividade gráfica proporcionada pelo espaço disponível de superfície frontal das capas e contra-capas. Em pleno percurso, apareceu a meio o formato CD, que viria desde essa altura a levantar novos desafios para os desenhadores de capas de discos.
Nomes de artistas, formações e bandas como Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Clan of Xymox, The Wolfgang Press, Throwing Muses ou Pixies devem também muito da sua popularidade e culto à imagem gráfica das suas edições discográficas.
