PHOTOGRAPHS

Decorre neste momento uma exposição fotográfica de Nigel Grierson, na Galeria de Arte ATP, na zona de Deptford, no sul de Londres.
Nigel Grierson fez, durante muito tempo, dupla com Vaughan Oliver, nos anos áureos da agência de design gráfico 23 Envelope. Foi co-responsável pela arte final das capas dos discos mais famosos da editora independente inglesa 4AD, para além de ser o autor das imagens fotográficas de álbuns dos This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Dif Juz, Xmal Deutschland, entre outros artistas da casa sediada em Alma Road.
Um dos trabalhos gráficos de Grierson mais aclamados foi com o disco «Secrets of the Beehive», de David Sylvian, e respectivos singles “Let the Happiness In” e “Orpheus”, para além do livro «Trophies», também de Sylvian.
Também na exposição encontra-se à venda o livro-catálogo com imagens das obras de Grierson patentes nesta galeria londrina.
Há quase 25 anos, em Dezembro, foi igualmente realizada uma exposição numa galeria em Londres com as capas dos discos da 4AD, editados entre 1980 e esse ano de 1989. Farei eco dessa exposição aqui no blogue da «Irmandade do Éter» no próximo mês.

Peter Gabriel & Robert Fripp 

Peter Gabriel, fundador e primeiro vocalista dos britânicos Genesis e autor de uma carreira a solo desde a segunda metade dos anos 70.
Robert Fripp, fundador e guitarrista principal dos também ingleses King Crimson, igualmente com uma longa carreira em nome próprio, iniciada ainda no final dos anos 60.
Das numerosas parcerias e colaborações com outros consagrados, encontra-se o nome de Gabriel. É no tema "Here Comes The Flood", no primeiro álbum homónimo de Peter Gabriel após a saída dos Genesis.
Gravação de 1976 com edição no ano seguinte.

Será editado no próximo dia 14 de Novembro. É inteiramente instrumental e conta com as participações de Franz Wright e Christian Fennesz.
Repetem-se alguns momentos da carreira a solo do ex-vocalista dos Japan, que anteriormente e em momentos distintos no tempo, assinou obras instrumentais. E quanto a colaborações, já não é a primeira vez que Christian Fennesz participa no trabalho de Sylvian. Fennesz esteve, há poucas semanas, em Portugal, para uma actuação no Festival de Música Experimental Out.Fest na cidade do Barreiro.

O álbum mais representativo dos norte-americanos PIXIES celebra 25 anos de existência com uma edição revista e aumentada.
São três CDs nesta data comemorativa, através da casa mãe 4AD. A publicação está agendada para o início de Dezembro. Também haverá edição especial em vinil.
Os PIXIES foram a banda mais importante da ala americana da 4AD na segunda metade dos anos 80 e início dos 90. O primeiro álbum de originais fora da editora de Ivo Watts-Russel é já deste ano.
